The last one year has witnessed a lot of activity in the News channel arena. However, the heartening fact for the news broadcasters is that the quantum of news telecast and the consequent news viewing presents a classical case of economics, wherein increased supply has been matched by a rise in demand. With increase supply (read launch of news channels), the time spent on News channel viewing has also registered an increase at an all-India level.

  • The Euro final viewership had a skew of 80:20 in favour of the males as compared to the FIFA final that had an almost equal viewership split between male and female viewers
  • The profile of viewers for the Euro final was more upscale as compared to the FIFA final with 70% SEC A & B viewers as compared to nearly 50% for the latter
  • Mumbai accounted for 70% of the total 6-metro viewership for the recently held Men's Wimbledon final.
  • 50% of viewership for the Wimbledon Men's final came from SEC-A
