This week, AdEx India analyzes the advertising trends in Retail Sector advertising on TV during 2007.

The Retail Sector is further divided into Independent Retailers, Retail Categories and Display Shop segments. Shops like the Adani stores, Pantaloons etc. form the Independent Retail category. The Display shop category consists of all the display retail shops like A to Z Footwear, Afia Travels etc. Local retailers of companies for e.g. retailers of Samsung refrigerators are classified as the Retail categories.

  • During 2007 Retail sector advertising on TV seen a rise of 8% compared to last year.
  • During the 2nd half of year 2007, advertising in the Retail sector increased by 42% compared to the 1st half of the same year.

  • During 2007, Independent Retailers and Display Retail shops shared the Retail sector ad pie in the ratio of 84:16.
  • Retail categories accounted for a meagre share of 0.2% of overall Retail sector advertising in TV during 2007.
  • Compared to 2006,3 advertisers leaped maximum places to be in the top 10 advertisers list of 2007 .(i.e. namely ‘Subhiksha Trading Service Ltd’ , ‘Univer Cell’ and ‘Kalanji Store’)
  • 3 of the top 10 advertisers in 2007 maintained their ranks as in 2006. Wherein ‘Kala Zone Silk Mills Surat' was the only Display Retail shop.
