Part 1 Highlights:

  • Television Ad volumes has seen growth of 12 times during 2008 compared to 1999 .
  • ‘Food & Beverages',' Personal Care/Personal Hygiene’ and ‘Household Products’ have maintained their respective 1st, 2nd and 10th rank on Television during 1999 and 2008.
  • ‘Toilet Soaps’ was the only category on Television in 1999 to maintain its 3rd rank in Top 10 category list of 2008.
  • ‘HUL’ was the leader in Television advertising during 1999 and 2008.
 

Part 2 Highlights:

  • 82% rise in number of brands advertised on TV during 2008 compared to 1999 .
  • Only 2 of the Top 10 brand of 1999 and 2008 were common i.e. ‘Pepsi’ and ‘Colgate Dental Cream’.
  • ‘Virgin Mobile’, ‘Lux Strawberry Cream’ and ‘Vodafone Customer Care’ were the Top 3 New brands advertised on Television during 2008.
  • More than 70% share garnered by the Bollywood Celebrities across the years except for 2003 on Television.

  • Only 2 of the Top 10 brand of 1999 and 2008 were common i.e. ‘Pepsi’ and ‘Colgate Dental Cream’.
  • Top 10 brands on Television during 1999 comprised of 3 brands of ‘Tooth Paste’ category and 2 brands were from ‘Aerated Soft Drinks’.
  • Whereas, the Top 10 brands on Television of 2008 has seen 5 brands of ‘Cellular Phone Services’ category and 2 were of ‘Aerated Soft Drinks’ category.
  • Contribution of the Top 100 Brands of 1999 on Television was 28% which decreased to 4% in 2008.
  • Share of Top 100 brands on Television for the year 1999 was below 7% from year ‘2003 to 2008’.

  • Top 10 list of new brands on Television comprised of 2 brands each of' ‘Two Wheelers’ & ‘Cellular Phone Service’ and 3 belonged to ‘DTH Service Providers’ during 2008.
  • More than 70% share garnered by the Bollywood Celebrities across the years except for 2003 on Television.
  • ‘Sports person’ share decreasing after the year 2004 on Television.
